Following a well-attended session in Jindivick in late February, Council pop-up will make its way to the Erica Hall on Thursday 26 March from 3.00pm – 6.00pm.
All community members are welcome to attend and will be able to meet with and share any ideas or concerns they might have with Councillors, members of the Executive team and staff.
Council pop-up is an outreach program that aims to bring Council closer to communities in both rural and major townships. The sessions provide a transparent and open-communication platform for community members to discuss ideas, ask questions and provide feedback to Council.
Following a successful pilot of the program during 2019, Council pop-up will continue throughout this year with more sessions in both rural areas – including Longwarry, Seaview and Yarragon. Due to the success of the Warragul sessions in December 2019, visits to larger townships will also be offered.
Council pop-ups will be widely advertised, giving community members plenty of notice that Council staff will be present in their area.
The program will be run on a bi-monthly frequency, with sessions running for 3-4 hours, at a time that suits the community best.
As stated by Mayor Cr Danny Goss
"Each community we visit offers a new perspective on different issues, and we appreciate every resident who takes the time to call in and see us. I look forward to meeting with members of the Erica community at the next session to get a better understanding of what matters to them most."
As stated by Deputy Mayor Cr Peter Kostos
"Our goal is to be as accessible as we can, and these sessions are a great way to connect Council with the community. It's fantastic to see the program continue this year, and I'd like to thank the community members who've supported the program and taken the time to attend the pop-ups so far."
As stated by East Ward Cr Michael Leaney
"Rural and remote communities in Baw Baw Shire are faced with different challenges to our larger towns. Council pop-ups offer our community members the opportunity to share their local knowledge with Council, highlight any issues they may be facing and get their questions answered."
As stated by East Ward Cr Darren Wallace
"Council pop-ups are a great opportunity for community members to meet with us in an informal setting and ask questions, offer feedback and share ideas. Everyone is welcome and you can drop-in at any time during the session for a chat."
