Council Prepares For Consultation On Greenhill Master Plan

Mitchell Shire Council is moving forward with the development of a master plan for the Greenhill Recreation Precinct, addressing the increased demand for recreational facilities in Wallan.

As part of the process, Council has begun meeting with existing sporting groups who use the space to discuss two proposed options for the development. Following these discussions, the community consultation phase will begin on Monday 25 March.

Located on the Northern Highway in Wallan, the Greenhill Recreation Precinct will incorporate the current Greenhill Reserve at 330 Northern Highway and an adjacent site at 300 Northern Highway, directly to the south.

The master plan envisions a precinct that includes an aquatic and indoor recreation facility, multi-use courts, sports ovals and areas dedicated to passive open space activities and cultural experiences.

A key aspect of the plan is to ensure that these new facilities will respond to the natural surroundings, particularly the iconic Green Hill volcanic cone, which stands as a prominent natural landmark within the precinct.
