Council recognises the great work of all of its volunteers, and at this time of year, particularly that of the Country Fire Authority.

Last night Council acknowledged the significant contribution of the Nillumbik CFA brigades and groups at a CFA Appreciation Awards presentation.

At the first meeting of the new council, Mayor John Dumaresq presented Nillumbik's 17 brigades and groups a certificate of appreciation and a financial contribution for their ongoing service to the community. The total contribution by Council to Nillumbik's brigades is $49,000.

The annual presentation is an opportunity for Council and the community to thank our emergency response partners and wish them well as we head into the fire season.

Nillumbik Mayor Cr Dumaresq expressed Council's commitment to supporting our local emergency services to safeguard lives and property.

"As we head into summer, we extend our best wishes to all emergency services first responders. While we hope for a safe season, we also acknowledge the importance of being well-prepared for any challenges that may arise," Cr Dumaresq said.
