Shoalhaven City Council's West Nowra, Huskisson and Ulladulla Recycling & Waste Depots has reopened their Community Recycling Centres to allow residents to dispose of their household problem waste such as paints, motor oils, batteries and more.
In addition, from Friday 17 September 2021 Council Depots at Berry, Callala and Sussex Inlet will re-open and return to their normal opening hours with most services fully operational. Buy-Back Centres remain closed until further notice.
Shoalhaven City Council Mayor Amanda Findley said that the Council's decision to gradually reopen Depots was in response to revised advice issued by the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) and NSW Health on the current COVID restrictions applying to waste disposal.
"Public Health Orders in relation to COVID-safe work practices will continue and we ask residents visiting Council's Depots, to please comply with both written and verbal instructions. Some of these measures include the correct wearing of face masks, visitor check-in and social distancing", Clr Findley said.
"Operating our Depots in accordance with NSW Health guidelines, requires additional staff at each facility. This increased demand has meant the reopening of all our Depots must be done in a staged process. Council's Waste Services staff are focused on reopening our remaining Depots as soon as possible and I thank residents for their patience during this challenging time", Clr Findley said.
"I encourage everyone to read information on the COVID measures in place at our Depots before your visit and follow Council's website for more updates", Clr Findley said.
Residents are reminded that stay at home directions are in place and that people should only visit waste facilities if absolutely necessary. NSW Police are enforcing COVID restrictions and residents must abide by all relevant restrictions as they apply at the time. Residents should continue to check for updates from NSW Health.
