The City of Casey is excited to get moving on three major projects following the announcement that it has been successful in securing more than $1.2 million in vital funding through the Victorian Government's 2022/23 Growing Suburbs Fund.
The Growing Suburbs Fund will provide funding for:
-
Hampton Park Community House: $938,884. Works will include the renovation of amenities, the relocation of a community space, the installation of an air lock at the front entrance and minor landscaping.
-
Fairhaven Family and Children's Centre: $135,000. Works will include upgrades to the entry, foyer and waiting areas, and creating safer working spaces for staff.
-
Camms Road Maternal and Child Health Centre: $131,600. Works will include the installation of an accessible toilet, Environmentally Sustainable Design improvements, landscaping, and the renewal of the kitchen, waiting room and consultation rooms.
Council will also be contributing more than $300,000 towards the three projects.
City of Casey Chair of Administrators Noelene Duff PSM, Administrators Miguel Belmar and Cameron Boardman and City of Casey CEO Glenn Patterson were joined by Minister for Local Government Melissa Horne and Member for Narre Warren South Gary Maas at Hampton Park Community House on Tuesday 4 October to share in the announcement.
Ms Duff said the Growing Suburbs Fund is a vital source of funding for the City of Casey and other growth councils, helping to provide much-needed local infrastructure for our communities.
"The renewal works at Hampton Park Community House will improve functionality at the facility and increase capacity at the site, allowing more people to attend its many programs, such as computer training, Tai Chi and English as a Second Language classes," she said.
"The Camms Road Maternal and Child Health Centre renewal will ensure that clients and staff have a safe, accessible and welcoming environment that supports the ongoing provision of health and wellbeing services to the local community.
"Works at Fairhaven Family and Children's Centre will enhance the facility, allowing it to continue running its various services, programs and activities, including three and four-year-old kindergarten."
Mr Patterson said the upcoming projects are important Council assets upon which local communities rely.
"These projects demonstrate Council's commitment to advocating on behalf of the community to ensure that residents have access to facilities and spaces that help them form strong local connections and build a sense of community," he said.
"We thank the Victorian Government for its investment into these important community assets and we look forward to working in partnership to deliver these projects for our community."
