An Extreme Fire Danger rating and Total Fire Ban has been declared for today, Thursday 22 February for Murrindindi Shire.
For the safety of our staff and community, we have limited some of our services today, including:
- Waste services - our Resource Recovery Centre in Eildon is closed today, with our other locations usually closed on Thursdays.
- Maternal and Child Health and Family Day Care services - we have postponed/rescheduled some of our regular services, and all impacted clients have been contacted.
- Supported Playgroup Session in Kinglake - our playground session scheduled for this morning at the Kinglake Ranges Neighbourhood House is cancelled.
- Swimming Pools - all pools remain open at this stage, however we will be monitoring conditions throughout the day.
- Road and Park Maintenance Programs - our usual road and park maintenance programs have been put on hold to allow our teams to respond to urgent requests from the community, including fallen trees or other hazards.
- Mobile Library and Customer Service - Our Mobile Library will not be operating today, so that means we won't be visiting Glenburn or Strath Creek.
We encourage our community to be aware of the risks today. In addition to the Extreme Fire Danger Rating, strong winds may cause branches or trees to fall, so avoid any unnecessary travel.
