A new world-class community and sports precinct at Concord, playground upgrades across the City, and a regional cycleway are all part of Council's $92 million capital works program as the new financial year begins.
This program is part of the City of Canada Bay's Operational Plan 2022-23.
Alongside major projects, our Operational Plan importantly commits resources to improve and maintain core Council services and infrastructure that the community needs now more than ever.
The planned infrastructure program will not only improve the City of Canada Bay for residents, workers, and visitors, it will also create thousands of jobs.
Council's flagship project, the Concord Oval Community and Sports Precinct, will be opening in 2022. Our entire community can look forward to enjoying all that the new precinct has to offer including the new Concord Oval Recreation Centre, open spaces for recreation, rooms for community use, new match day facilities for local sporting clubs, all alongside an elite training facility for the Wests Tigers.
Alongside our $33.5 million investment into major projects, this year we are also investing $17.4 million for parks and recreation, $15.1 million in our roads and footpaths, and $7.5 million in our buildings and property across the City.
Our 2022-23 capital works program also features projects such as a new community and play space at Charles Heath Reserve in Five Dock, new softfall for Cabarita Park playground, new public amenities at parks across the City, upgrades to make our City more accessible, ongoing road and footpath renewals, and more.
We are also continuing our work to build a more sustainable and healthier environment for our area. This year we are working on increasing our tree canopy, improving access to and the quality of our foreshore, and implementing actions to decrease carbon emissions and increase waste diverted from landfill.
Our work across the next year will see our area transform into an even better place to live. Our goal is to support our residents and businesses, and to further realise our vision for an inclusive, sustainable, and thriving foreshore community
