Goulburn Mulwaree Council announces its endorsement of an application from Dylan Downey, a promising hockey talent, seeking support for his ongoing expenses associated with representing Australia in hockey.

Dylan, who has been a proud representative of Goulburn since 2017, has demonstrated remarkable dedication to the sport. His journey through the NSW hockey representative system culminated in his selection for the national U21 men's team, fondly known as the "Burras," last year. This opportunity took Dylan across Europe, Malaysia, and Kuala Lumpur, showcasing his skills on an international stage.

Now, Dylan's commitment to hockey requires him to train and compete in Sydney while maintaining his electrical apprenticeship, a testament to his work ethic and determination.

Despite travel costs being covered for tours, players like Dylan still face financial burdens related to food, equipment, rental payments, and lost income while away. Dylan has requested $5,000 to alleviate some of these expenses.

Following the Council's tradition of supporting local talents, including Ellen Ryan, Ben and Jake Staines, Makayla Jones, and the Goulburn High School Robotics team, Council has approved a $5,000 cash contribution to assist Dylan in his endeavours.
