NSW Government branding for Safe Work Month 2022

Wingecarribee Shire Council is supporting National Safe Work Month this October with a community safety awareness program.

Council's General Manager, Ms Lisa Miscamble, explained that Council was committed to raising awareness and supporting a safe and healthy workforce.

"Individuals, their families and the broader community are all impacted by work-related injury and illness," she said.

"Council entered into an Enforceable Undertaking with Safe Work NSW following a 2018 incident at our Moss Vale Sewage Treatment Plant that left two workers injured.

"Our people are our greatest asset and our organisation is committed to improving workplace safety. No job should be unsafe, and no injury is acceptable."

National Safe Work Month is an annual campaign run by Safe Work Australia and supported by Safe Work NSW.

"The way we work has changed over the last couple of years and safety and wellbeing have never been more important," said Ms Miscamble.

"Council is currently reviewing its Work Health and Safety induction program and implementing a Contractor Management Program.

"I encourage other local businesses to join National Safe Work Month and start a conversation about health and safety at work," continued Ms Miscamble.

"To help get started, we are working with Safe Work NSW to deliver a series of free safety presentations at targeted community and industry events."
