Council is inviting members of the community to participate in a series of workshops to increase understanding of how climate risks might affect the Shire.
Mayor Kate Makin said local knowledge gathered at the workshops would form the basis of the 'Community Adaptation and Resilience Plan 2025-2035'.
"If you want to learn more about how our climate is changing, or if you have ideas about how we can better prepare for extreme weather events in the future, we want to hear from you.
"Your ideas and participation are crucial as we navigate the challenges ahead together.
"The 'Community Adaptation and Resilience Plan' will be a tool for the community to use, such as through community emergency planning," Cr Makin said.
"We're no strangers to fires and floods in Corangamite and our community has always been amazing at looking out for one another.
"But with predictions of hotter days, more heatwaves and droughts, fewer but more severe storms, and coastal erosion, we can learn from past experiences to prepare for the future.
