In a demonstration of exceptional teamwork and strategic acumen, Goulburn Mulwaree Council (GMC) proudly announces its outstanding achievement in the Local Government Professionals Rural Management Challenge.
Held over two days in Nowra last November, the challenge brought together councils from across New South Wales for a rigorous test of managerial skills and problem-solving prowess. The GMC team of four, and their mentor, showcased their expertise, emerging victorious in their round.
Their triumph in the preliminary round paved the way for their advancement to the final round, held in Sydney in February 2024. Strengthened by the inclusion of substitute team member the GMC team, now five-strong, faced stiff competition as they vied for top honours.
The culmination of their efforts was celebrated at the 2024 Local Government Awards Dinner held on Thursday, June 6, 2024. Amidst a gathering of peers and industry leaders, Goulburn Mulwaree Council was honoured with the prestigious second-place award.
"This achievement underscores our commitment to excellence and innovation in local government," said, Aaron Johansson, Chief Executive Officer of Goulburn Mulwaree Council. "It is a testament to the dedication and talent of our staff, whose tireless efforts continue to elevate our community."
The Local Government Professionals Rural Management Challenge serves not only as a platform for friendly competition but also as a valuable professional development opportunity for council staff. Through collaboration, problem-solving, and strategic thinking, participants gain invaluable skills to better serve their communities.
Goulburn Mulwaree Council extends its heartfelt congratulations to all participants and expresses gratitude to Local Government Professionals for organising this enriching event.
