Council Thrilled by Cameron Smith's NSW Open Appearance

Swan Hill Rural City Council is thrilled by this week's announcement that Cameron Smith, renowned champion golfer, will be gracing the 2024 NSW Open Golf Championship at Murray Downs from 14-17 November 2024.

Council's Mayor Cr Stuart King said the news would provide a tremendous boost for our community and local businesses.

"Cameron Smith will bring an extra level of prestige and excitement to the NSW Open. His presence is expected to draw many golf enthusiasts, fans, and media attention, putting our region firmly on the map.

"The Murray Downs course is consistently rated amongst the best in Australia and drawing big name players to this event is testament to the hard work and dedication of all involved, from the Board and CEO through to the hospitality and green keeping staff.

"Local businesses are set to benefit greatly from the influx of visitors who will need accommodation, dining, and retail services and give our local economy a significant boost.

"It will be a fantastic opportunity to showcase our region to a broader audience, potentially encouraging future tourism and investment," Cr King said.

Cr King encouraged local businesses and community members to embrace the excitement surrounding the 2024 NSW Open.

"We encourage local businesses to get involved in welcoming our visitors by preparing special offers, promotions, or themed events to capitalise on the increased activity and to contribute to the vibrant atmosphere that will surround the championship," he said.

"There are volunteering opportunities at the Club as well which will enable community members to get up close and personal with world class golfers," he added.

Cr King said Council was proud to support this prestigious event and looked forward to welcoming Cameron Smith and the many visitors expected, to our region.

"We look forward to coming together to make the 2024 NSW Open Golf Championship a resounding success and an event to remember for years to come," he added.
