Schools the big winner from building works blitz
Melton City Council welcomes the announcement by the State Government that four school projects in the City of Melton will receive funding as part of a state-wide construction blitz.
Today's announcement includes funding for the construction of Bridge Road Primary School in Strathtulloh and Grasslands Primary School in Deanside, which are set to open in 2022.
Exford Primary School will receive $2.42 million to upgrade water and sewerage site services, which is in addition to previously announced upgrade works which include replacing old relocatable buildings with new permanent classrooms. Staughton College in Melton will receive $5.85 million for an extension of its gym and refurbishment of classrooms.
The projects are part of the Victorian Government's Building Works package, which will deliver $2.7 billion in shovel-ready projects to get thousands of people back to work across the State.
City of Melton Mayor, Cr Lara Carli said Council was thrilled with the announcements.
"With such a fast-growing population, increased provision of, and investment in education facilities, has long been a top advocacy priority for Council.
"We commend the Victorian Government on this significant funding package, which will see the delivery much-needed projects, stimulate the economy, and create jobs at such a critical time.
