Mitchell Shire Council has welcomed the announcement from Federal Member for McEwen Rob Mitchell confirming the commitment of local roads funding.
The Government will provide a total of $11million to Mitchell Shire and Macedon Ranges to fund road upgrades, with each council to receive $5.5 million.
The much-needed funds will go towards the construction of Wellington Street between Watson Street and Duke Street and upgrades along Darraweit Road in Wallan.
The funds are part of the Federal Government's commitment to deliver safer, better local roads and to prioritise investment in projects that increase productivity and deliver social benefits to communities.
This commitment for local roads and important road infrastructure will enable housing, jobs and industrial growth for the region's future prosperity.
