Councillor Ed McDougall Elected Mayor Of Bayside

Councillor Ed McDougall has been named Mayor of Bayside Council, being selected by fellow Councillors at the Mayoral Election during the first meeting of the new term of Council on Wednesday 9 October.

Councillor McDougall, an inaugural Bayside Councillor, has served on Council since 2017, and will serve as Mayor for the next two years.

Returning Councillor Heidi Lee Douglas was appointed Deputy Mayor in her second term as a Bayside Councillor.

Bayside Council also welcomed eight new Councillors and seven returning Councillors at the October Extraordinary Council Meeting following the NSW Local Government Elections on Saturday 14 September 2024.

The eight new Councillors are Ron Bezic, Jerome Boutelet, Soraya Kassim, Peter Strong, Janin Bredehoeft, Christopher Saravinovski, Fiona Douskou and Vicki Poulous.

Christina Curry, Scott Morrissey, Michael Nagi, Joe Awada, Liz Barlow, Ed McDougall and Heidi Lee Douglas return to Council for another term.

Mayor Ed McDougall said:

"I am passionate about improving the Bayside Community and have proudly served as a Councillor for Bayside since 2017," Councillor McDougall said.

"I am excited to step into the new term of Council as Mayor and contribute to delivering on the expectations of our community.

"I'd like to thank our previous Mayor, Bill Saravinovski, and Deputy Mayor, Joe Awada, for their service to the Bayside community."
