Specialised imaging vehicles will begin to be seen on roads across the Snowy Monaro from Monday 28 October 2024, as Council's contractor DCPM begins capturing images for the mid-decade road network assessment and strategic analysis project.
Every five years, Council undertakes a comprehensive assessment of our entire road network to meet auditing requirements and give our teams the information they need about the current condition of every road that we maintain.
Residents and road users will see four-wheel drive vehicles with the DCPM logo and roof-mounted 360-degree camera equipment on roads across the region over the weeks ahead.
These five-yearly assessments and analyses are a required part of Council's legislated financial reporting responsibilities, and meet the nationally-recognised Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia asset management guidelines.
Once the region-wide imaging and video capture is complete, this data will be used to support Council's long-term works program for the region's road network. This important project will also ensure that our strategic planning documents reflect the level of maintenance and investment our roads require over the next ten years.
Having high-quality recent images of the road network will also help us in applying for grant and disaster relief funding in future.
