Council's 2024-25 Grants Program is now open and community groups, sporting clubs, local event organisers and businesses are encouraged to apply.
This year's grants program provides the opportunity for more than $300,000 in Council funds and matching in-kind or cash contributions to be invested in the Colac Otway community.
The program includes three categories: Community Grants, Events Grants and Business Grants to support projects and events that improve strong and resilient economies, natural and built environments and healthy and inclusive communities in the shire.
Mayor Marg White said the grants program offers Colac Otway groups and businesses the opportunity to secure funding for local projects and events.
"Council's Community Grants program provides opportunities across the shire to help fund a project or event that has positive benefits through the local community. We have so many great clubs, organisations, businesses and events in Colac Otway and the grants program provides a terrific partnership between Council and community.
"Over the years, Council has provided funding toward a range of wonderful and diverse projects like the recently completed mural on the Cressy water tower, the Light Up Apollo Bay event and solar panels for the Cororooke Hall.
"Often volunteers, clubs and groups just need a bit of assistance to make their ideas a reality, it's rewarding for Council to be a part of that," Cr White said.
Council, in partnership with Leisure Networks, is hosting a grant writing workshop for people interested in improving their grant writing skills. The workshop will be at the pavilion at Central Reserve on Monday 18 March from 6pm to 7.30pm.
Details on the workshop along with the Grants Program Guidelines and details on submitting an application can be found on Council's website www.colacotway.vic.gov.au (search for 'Grants Program').
