Covid - Breach of CHO directions in Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are seeking public assistance to locate two men who entered the NT through the Kulgera check point.

29-year-old Akiir Lueth and 31-year-old Pashaiy Ayiik entered the NT on the 24 December and were directed to quarantine at the Alice Springs Quarantine Facility but failed to arrive.

Police believe the pair are currently in Alice Springs.

Incident Controller Acting Commander Lauren Hill said Mr Lueth's and Ayiik's actions are not only in breach of the Chief Health Officer Directions but create unnecessary risk for the Alice Springs community.

"We are currently dealing with COVID-19 cases in other parts of the Territory and the actions of these men puts needless strain on police resourcing.

"Anyone who knows of their whereabouts is urged to contact police on 131 444 and quote reference 9883367. Both men are required to present themselves to police at the front gates at the Alice Springs Quarantine Facility."

The men were driving a red Ford Focus Hatch which has since been located on Gap Road.
