I am excited about 2024. I think we have been – and still are, struggling with the after effects of COVID.
I feel like I have been released from jail. I woke up one morning with the realisation that life is too short and that we need to embrace it. The first thing I did to shake things up was my Australia Day speech. It was loud and lively. Thank you to all the people who attended, singing along and making it such a fun day.
My next venture to liven up Central Goldfields Shire, is organising an International Women's Day luncheon. We as women do not do enough to spoil ourselves, always looking out for others and forgetting ourselves.
The luncheon will be a two-course meal with two amazing presenters. I am grateful for Janice Simpson agreeing to be our MC. Tickets are available on the International Women's Day website.
It came about the way all good things happen. A phone call question, then me being a go-getter saying yes, afterwards realising what I said yes to. I have amazing support in Carisbrook. It was Leonie Lomax who called, saying that nothing had been done last locally for International Women's Day and that needed to change. I agreed. Luckily Pauline Forbes pitched in to help. Thanks to a marketing group in Castlemaine, the website and ticket sales were all organised.
I often feel overwhelmed by the support and encouragement I experience, not just from the Tullaroop Ward but also from the wider Central Goldfields Shire Community.
As I said – 2024 has just started – watch this space!
