City of Stonnington Councillors voted last night to re-elect Cr Jami Klisaris as Mayor for 2022-23. This will be Cr Klisaris's third term as Mayor having previously been in the role in 2021-22 and 2016-2017. Cr Melina Sehr was re-elected as Deputy Mayor.
Having first been elected as a City of Stonnington Councillor in 2012, Cr Klisaris has been re-elected by her community twice. She represents Stonnington's East Ward and has been actively involved as a Board Member with the Municipal Association of Victoria since 2017.
"I am deeply honoured to be re-elected Mayor for a third term and I thank my fellow Councillors instilling their trust and faith in me to serve another year", Cr Klisaris said.
"I have lived in Stonnington for almost my entire life, the love and passion that I have for this area and community runs deep, therefore it is not lost on me how incredibly special it is to lead this community for another year.
"I'm looking forward to building on everything we've achieved over the past 12 months. Continuing to focus on community and economic recovery remains a priority, as does our building program.
"I'm particularly pleased that my next 12 months as Mayor will allow me to continue to oversee the construction of the new sport facilities that are being built at the Percy Treyvaud Memorial Park. As a keen advocate for more sporting facilities for our women and girls to increase their ability to play sport in Stonnington, this project really excites me.
"As Mayor, I look forward to seeing what we can achieve together and am excited for what 2023 holds for us.
"I'd also like to congratulate Cr Melina Sehr on her re-election as Deputy Mayor and look forward to once again working with her," Cr Klisaris said.
