Cr Steve Abboushi Elected Mayor Of City Of Melton

Mayor and Deputy Mayor 2024-25

Councillor Steve Abboushi has been elected Mayor of the City of Melton, and Cr Lara Carli, Deputy Mayor for the 2024/25 term at a Council meeting held last night.

This follows the recent Council election which saw Melton City Council welcome 10 Councillors after moving to a single-councillor ward structure.

Cr Abboushi brings a wealth of experience to the role, with this being his third term on Council and having served as Deputy Mayor in 2019/20 and 2023/24.

In his acceptance speech Cr Abboushi paid tribute to his family and to key people who have helped guide him throughout his life.

Cr Abboushi also acknowledged his fellow Councillors, welcoming the three new Councillors, and paying tribute to former Councillors Kesic and Farrugia for their service over the last term.
