Recently we've seen Youth Council members holding a climate conversation with fellow students from both MEC and Highview. I can't sing their praises high enough. Amongst all their schoolwork, homework and other curricular activities, these young adults show up to regular meetings to discuss and try to tackle some of the issues the youth in our shire face. They took on the challenge of having conversations with fellow students about climate change, a significant and complex subject for anyone and their discussions had were some of the best I've heard.

These are our future leaders and whether you agree with the subject or not, you can't deny the drive and commitment these students have. I feel lucky to be exposed to these things and thank the Youth Council for their ongoing advocacy and hard work.

We've also seen the fundraiser for the Dunolly Neighbourhood House solar panels and most recently, the Central Goldfields Shire, which through the Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance (CVGA), have been successful in getting funding for an investment ready business case for a community battery.

The State Government has also announced funding for more EV chargers as part of a $2.2 million project. We are seeing more and more investment in climate change mitigation and adaptation which is a great thing.

Our sustainability officer Julia together with our passionate volunteers and action group members as well as our membership with the CVGA leave us in an excellent position to take advantage of opportunities that may arise. Thank you to everyone working so hard toward a better future.
