Craigieburn Basketball Stadium Slam Dunk

VIC Premier

The Craigieburn community and local sporting clubs are set to benefit from the completion of an upgraded Craigieburn Sports Stadium thanks to the Allan Labor Government.

Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence today joined Hume City Council at the official opening of the bigger and better stadium - made possible by a $5 million investment from the Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program.

The stadium upgrade includes three new multisport courts for netball, basketball and badminton, increasing the number of courts to eight.

The upgrade also includes new change facilities to cater for higher demand, meeting rooms, a remodelled entry and reception, new café area and 80 extra car parking spaces.

The upgrades provide a real home court advantage for the more than 1,600 people who play in the Craigieburn Eagles Basketball Association, Craigieburn Netball Association and Craigieburn Ladies Badminton Club.

The Victorian Budget 2024/25 is investing more than $23 million in world class community sports infrastructure and initiatives that boost participation and inclusion in local sport.

Since 2014, the Labor Government has invested more than $2.3 billion into community sport and active recreation infrastructure.

From playground redevelopments to new sporting precincts, investments like these provide high quality and accessible places for Victorians to reap the benefits of sport and active recreation. These projects are all about creating jobs, stimulating local economies, and improving the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Victorian communities.

Minister Spence acknowledged the Hume City Council for its $12.3 million contribution to the project.
