Creative Projects To Boost Learning In Schools

VIC Premier

Students across the state will join forces with artists, writers, theatre makers, performers and musicians this year with support through the latest round of the Allan Labor Government's Creative Learning Partnerships program.

Minister for Creative Industries Colin Brooks today announced grants totalling $315,000 to support Victorian schools to work with local artists, creative collectives and arts companies on residency projects that will supercharge the curriculum in new, creative ways.

From Terms 2 to 4 in 2025, 19 primary, secondary and specialist schools across Victoria will undertake creative projects linked to their curriculum.

Collaborating with artists from a wide range of disciplines including visual art, light installation, performance, storytelling, circus and ceramics, students will develop projects that explore topics such as First Nations culture, nature and the environment, citizenship, language and leadership.

The 2025 recipients include Warringa Park School in Hoppers Crossing which will work with Polyglot Theatre on a project that will creatively explore the senses, colour, light, sound and movement, enhancing learning for students aged 5-12 living with disability.

Students from Peranbin Primary College in northeastern Victoria will work with Elder Uncle Eric Brown to learn about culture, creativity and Country. The project will support learning in geography, English and visual arts and will create murals across the school's three campuses.

The program will also support English as an Additional Language students at Werribee Secondary College to enhance their language, storytelling and art skills, working with writer and illustrator Isobelle Carmody to create their own graphic novels.

The Creative Learning Partnerships program (formerly Artists in Schools) has run in Victoria for more than 40 years. During this time, the program has provided unique, hands-on creative experiences at more than 1200 schools, involving more than 70,000 students.

The Creative Learning Partnerships program is a partnership between Creative Victoria and the Department of Education. For more information on Creative Learning Partnerships, or to see the full list of 2025 recipients, visit creative.vic.gov.au/funding-opportunities(opens in a new window).
