Crisafulli Government announces new appointees to Stadiums Queensland Board
- Five new appointments have been made to Stadiums Queensland Board, delivering experience and expertise in the runway to Brisbane 2032.
- John Warn, an existing Board Member, has been appointed as the new Chairperson.
- Stadiums Queensland board will help manage, develop, operate and promote the use of the state's major sport, entertainment and recreational facilities.
A range of fresh skillsets, experience and passion will guide a new-look Stadiums Queensland Board and contribute to the success of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Five new board members, including a new Chairperson have been appointed and will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Queensland's sporting, as the outgoing board members are thanked for their contribution.
John Warn, an existing Board Member has been appointed as the new Chairperson.
New appointees to the Board include, Stephen Moore AM, Michael Dobbie-Bridges PLY, Debra Rains, Mary-Ann Strelow and Clare Stewart.
Brendan O'Farrell, an existing Board Member also remains as a Director.
Minister for Sport Tim Mander said the new appointments guarantee the right blend of experience and skills to guide Stadiums Queensland towards 2032.
"These appointments reflect our government's dedication to ensuring our state remains a global leader in sport and entertainment," Minister Mander said.
"Stadiums Queensland manages some of the most iconic and important sporting venues, across the state.
"The new appointees bring diverse expertise and a shared commitment to ensure Queensland's iconic venues deliver world-class and host key sporting events experiences leading up to and beyond 2032.
"That experience includes a former Paralympian, a former Wallabies Captain, a former Mayor who was also on the board of the Brisbane Organising Committee for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and a wealth of business acumen which will hold the future in good stead.
"I would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of each of the outgoing Board members, in particular Ms McGuane the outgoing Chairperson."
New Stadiums Queensland Board appointees:
Michael Dobbie-Bridges PLY
Michael Dobbie-Bridges is a distinguished Paralympian and a trailblazer in adaptive sports, representing Australia in the 2008 Beijing Paralympics and six World Cups in wheelchair tennis. He is the current Head Coach and 3-time All Australian for Queensland in AFL Wheelchair.
He has served as Chairperson of Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association and as a Board Director at Disability Employment Australia and is currently a Director at Create Advisory.
Stephen Moore AM
Stephen Moore is the Managing Director of BMS Group, a global broker that provides specialist insurance, reinsurance and capital markets advisory services. Prior to his corporate career, Stephen had 15 years in professional rugby and played a total of 129 Tests for the Wallabies including 24 as Captain.
He was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2019 in recognition of his "significant service to rugby union, and to charitable organisations". In recent years, Stephen was a board member of Lifeline Canberra, Invictus Australia, and Ronald McDonald House SEQ. He currently acts as a Trustee of the Board of Brisbane Grammar School. He holds an undergraduate qualification in Biomedical Science from the University of Queensland.
Debra Rains
Debra Rains is Owner/Manager of Gallivanter Travel, a regional travel agency group with stores in Townsville, Mackay and Rockhampton. With over 37 years in business, she has managed to evolve and change her travel business to stay relevant.
She has been involved in many not-for-profit boards and committees and is currently a Foundation Member of the Townsville Business Women's Circle and a Food Relief NQ board member. Previous roles include President of the Townsville Chamber of Commerce, President Townsville Business Women's Network, Member of the Reconstruction Advisory Board Townsville post-flood recovery, as well as the PNG and Singapore Economic Development Committee and Townsville Port Authority.
Clare Stewart
Clare Stewart is a former Mayor of Noosa Shire Council and has served on the Brisbane Organising Committee for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Ms Stewart was elected Mayor of Noosa Council in the 2020 Local Government elections and was the first woman to serve in this position. She is also a Board Director of the not-for-profit charity Youngcare and a disability advocate.
Mary-Ann Strelow
Mary-Ann Strelow is the Executive Director and Co-Founder of FleetCrew, a market-leading 4WD hire business which services Australia's eastern states in a broad range of industries including mining, construction, renewables and government.
She is strong advocate for women in business providing coaching and mentoring to small business owners. She was recognised with an Australia Day Certificate of Achievement in 2023 for the commitment she has shown to a number of organisations and charities. She is a Board Member of the NOW Business Network.
