The Crisafulli Government will strengthen bilateral trade ties and deliver economic investment for Queensland through a vital trade mission to Asia to assure partners that the state is open for business.
The Minister for Trade Ros Bates will lead the Queensland delegation to India and Singapore over the coming week, which will see a robust agenda that will strengthen key partnerships and push Queensland's fresh start in the trade space where stability, certainty and growth will be at the forefront of discussions.
A key focus of the mission will be Hyderabad's BioAsia 2025 - regarded as the one of the world's premier life sciences and health-tech events - which promotes investment and collaboration in health industries such as biopharmaceuticals, digital health, medical devices, and advanced therapeutics.
Governor of Queensland Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM will join Minister Bates on the Indian leg of Queensland's trade mission.
Minister Bates said the trading relationships between Queensland and the two economic powerhouses would play an essential role in creating jobs and fixing the skills shortage caused by Labor.
"India is Queensland's fourth largest goods export market and Indian leaders understand how important Queensland is to their future energy needs and economic growth strategies across a variety of sectors," Minister Bates said.
"This trade mission to Singapore and India underlines the important opportunities for Queensland companies in the region, highlighted by BioAsia 2025, in Hyderabad.
"With 10 leading Queensland health-tech and life sciences companies and research institutions taking part in BioAsia 2025, this is an important opportunity to demonstrate Queensland innovation and contribute to better global health outcomes."
