Critical Incident Declared After Pursuit - Whalan

A critical incident investigation has been declared following a police pursuit and crash in Sydney's west this morning.

About 12.50am (Friday 13 December 2024), police saw a vehicle allegedly driving dangerously on Luxford Road, Whalan.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle and when it did not stop, a pursuit was initiated.

A short time later, the vehicle crashed into two unoccupied cars and a tree in the same road.

The driver and only occupant – a 14-year-old boy – was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to The Children's Hospital at Westmead.

A crime scene was established and inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.

A critical incident team from Hawksbury Police Area Command will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The investigation will be subject to an independent review.
