A critical incident investigation is underway following a police shooting in Glebe overnight.
About 11.50pm (Wednesday 19 July 2023), emergency services were called to a home in Franklyn Street, Glebe, over concerns for a man's welfare.
On arrival, officers from Leichhardt Police Area Command were allegedly confronted by a 43-year-old man, who was armed with a knife.
One officer discharged a taser and another officer then discharged a firearm.
The man was treated by NSW Ambulance; however, he died at the scene.
A critical incident team from the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad will investigate all circumstances surrounding the man's death.
The investigation will be subject to an independent review and oversight by the Coroner and the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
