Cube Light Box Unveils Nature's Tiny Treasures

A new installation in The Cube Wodonga Lightboxes, Tiny Treasures, captures the intricate beauty of nature, drawing attention to details which are often overlooked.

Created by artist Kirrily Anderson, the works are inspired by the colours and textures of elements in nature such as rocks, lichen, bark and moss and transforms them into unique compositions, showcasing the beauty found in nature's smallest details.

Growing up on a farm in the Riverina, Kirrily developed a deep appreciation for natural landscapes. After years immersed in Melbourne's contemporary design world, she returned to Chiltern, which reignited her creative inspiration.

"Surrounded by a national park, this shift rekindled my connection to nature and inspired a transformative evolution in my creative style and artistic expression," she said.

Kirrily's creative process for creating the tiny treasures begins with photographs taken during her time in nature.

"From these images, I experiment digitally with colour, shapes and forms, allowing the work to evolve in either an abstract or realistic direction," she said.

Her aim is to connect art with everyday life, encouraging viewers to slow down and notice the often-overlooked details in their surroundings.

Tiny Treasures encourages quiet reflection, drawing attention to the intricate details of the natural world.

"In a world that seems to be moving faster with so much of our time spent on screens, I aim to share the joy and benefits I find in stepping away, embracing a slower pace in nature, and discovering the subtle details often overlooked in the rush of daily life," Kirrily explains.

By focusing on familiar details from nature, Kirrily's work creates a sense of connection and shared experience. Her pieces encourage viewers to consider their own relationship with the natural world and the landscapes they encounter every day.

Kirrily's Tiny Treasures is a gentle reminder that art can be both approachable and meaningful, highlighting the beauty in everyday moments and inviting others to see their surroundings with fresh eyes.

Tiny Treasures will be on display in The Cube Lightboxes until March 31.
