Residents living in Cungulla and Giru are encouraged to conserve water.
Due to a loss of power and turbidity in the water there are issues with the water treatment plants operation.
The treatment plant services both communities, even though Cungulla is in the Townsville City Council boundary, and Giru is in Burdekin Shire Council area.
As a precaution, Townsville City Council encourages residents in these area to conserve water until the flood waters recede and crews can get to the treatment plant.
