Curtin ranks in world's top one percent of universities

Curtin University continues to rank in the world's top one percent of universities and ninth in Australia, according to the prestigious Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) 2021.

Released annually by the ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, ARWU ranks more than 2000 universities worldwide and publishes the top 1000. It ranks universities across four research criteria: Quality of Education; Quality of Faculty; Research Output; and Per Capita Performance.

Curtin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Harlene Hayne said it was satisfying to see Curtin's research capabilities again recognised on a global scale.

"These rankings give a great insight into how others perceive our research output, which is considered among the world's very best. At Curtin, we pride ourselves in committing to research that will solve real-world problems and deliver true impact in both the community and industry," Professor Hayne said.

"We want our current and future students to know that we value change and their ability to influence that change whether that's through research, skill-building, industry integration or simply by being part of our diverse and engaged campuses."

Earlier this year, Curtin was also ranked in the world's top one percent of universities in the QS World University Rankings (QSWUR) 2022, as well as achieving a QS Five Stars Plus rating, the highest available for a tertiary institution. Curtin is only one of three universities in Australia to achieve the QS Five Stars Plus recognition, and one of only 13 in the world.

In the student-centric Good Universities Guide 2022, Curtin again outranked all other public universities in Western Australia for undergraduate outcomes in full-time employment and starting salary, as well as staff qualifications.
