Latrobe City Council has been made aware of a cyber security incident involving OracleCMS, a contracted service provider that manages customer calls to Council outside of business hours.
On 12 April 2024, OracleCMS became aware that data had been stolen from its network. It was identified that an unauthorised third party gained access to a portion of OracleCMS' data and published files online.
Council was provided with the complete information contained in the data breach by 17 May 2024 and undertook an extensive review of the data. The affected data is limited to what is known as 'low risk identity attributes'.
It is important to note Latrobe City Council systems have not been compromised and are not at risk from this incident.
Impacted customers have been contacted directly and provided with advice and guidance to reduce the risk of their information being misused. Council has partnered with IDCARE, Australia's national identity and cyber support community service, with this service available at no cost to impacted customers.
We remain updated by OracleCMS and government authorities as they work through this incident and are committed to ensuring the security of your personal information.
We take the security of our community members' privacy extremely seriously and apologise for the concern and distress this may cause impacted individuals.
