Cyclist dies after crash near Mudgee

A female cyclist has died following a crash in Yarrawonga near Mudgee today.

About 9am (Saturday 17 August 2019), two cyclists were travelling west along Spring Creek Road, about 12km from Gulgong, when a utility and the female cyclist collided, knocking her to the ground.

The 52-year-old woman died at the scene; her male companion was not injured.

The driver and sole occupant of the utility, a 39-year-old man, was taken to hospital suffering shock.

Officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District attended and established a crime scene.

Officers from the Bathurst Crash Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed this incident, or who may have dashcam footage, to come forward.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.

Police are reminding everyone that there is a running festival being held tomorrow morning (Sunday 18th August 2019) in the Mudgee area that will involve road diversions.

Police are asking everyone to take care on the roads and be extra careful with runners and pedestrians on the roadway during the event.
