Brisbane police are encouraging residents to finalise their plans and get ready to put them into action as strong winds and heavy rainfall are forecast to arrive with Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
Police advise residents to keep up to date with the Bureau of Meteorology warnings and alerts.
The Bureau has forecasted significant rainfall across the southeast coast, including Brisbane over the coming days.
This is significant rainfall that will not only cause flash flooding, but prolonged riverine flooding. It's important that Brisbane residents have prepared, or are finalising preparations, for this potential rainfall and understand their risks.
Brisbane police have been working with Brisbane City Council and Redland City Council regarding at-risk areas from flooding.
Regularly check your council's disaster dashboard for flood preparation and response information.
Decide now when to evacuate, because there will come a time where people in those at-risk areas may not be able to leave.
This week hundreds of Brisbane police have been deployed to door knock thousands of addresses across the region which are at risk from storm surge and flooding.
Police have also been monitoring the Moreton and Bay Island communities to ensure residents remain safe and are prepared for the impacts of TC Alfred.

Brisbane Disaster District Co-ordinator, Acting Assistant Commissioner Rhys Wildman thanked the community for their overall preparation and for adhering to the advice of local authorities and emergency services.
"The overwhelming response our officers have seen while doorknocking is that the community is taking this risk seriously and is preparing – which is exactly what we hope to see.
"I encourage the community to continue to take this risk seriously and use their common sense as the severe weather arrives – no photo or video is worth risking your life.
"The weather conditions could be extremely dangerous. Please, for your safety and the safety of emergency responders, we do not want to see people undertake risky behaviour."
