Cygnet Folk Festival Sets Right Tone For 2025

Tasmanian Government

The 2025 Cygnet Folk Festival will bring its signature celebration of local and international music and culture to the Huon Valley this weekend.

Minister for Sports and Events, Nick Duigan, said the Cygnet Folk Festival was one of Australia's most iconic folk music festivals.

"Cygnet Folk Festival has been entertaining audiences for more than 40 years with its successful program of local and international music," Minister Duigan said.

"The Tasmanian Government is pleased to announce the Cygnet Folk Festival has again received up to $100,000 to support delivery of the festival over three years from 2025 to 2027.

"The festival continues to provide a high return on government investment.

"As part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, we're investing in our tourism and events sector, which is exactly what the Cygnet Folk Festival is all about."

Liberal Member for Franklin, Nic Street, said the event sees people travelling from interstate and internationally to attend the event and visit the region.

"This year's program boasts more than 400 performers from Tasmania and around the world, with plenty of kids' entertainment, masterclasses, poetry and dance, as well as the usual delicious food and beverage offering," Mr Street said.

"Every year this festival does a fantastic job of getting the local community involved, as well as attracting people from interstate and internationally to attend the event and visit the region.

"The festival's 2025 theme is 'Future Folk', which is a nod to the encouragement the festival gives to young and emerging performers and the commitment to attracting younger audiences, but also to the future and longevity of the event."

The Cygnet Folk Festival runs from Friday, 10 to Sunday, 12 January 2025. Tickets are still available at www.cygnetfolkfestival.org
