The little girl and her father spotted the brown bear from a window on a children's ward of the hospital
A father and daughter got a shock during a visit to a children's ward - when they spotted a bear playing with a football in the grounds of the hospital.
The dad and his little girl filmed the brown bear as it chased the ball around from one of the windows of the children's respiratory clinic.
It was spotted outside the medical facility in the northern Slovakian town of Dolny Smokovec, found in the High Tatras Mountains.
According to local sources, it is quite common for brown bears to visit towns and villages after winter as they search for food.
Hospital director Milan Parimucha said all the children were safe inside the building when the bear began playing outside.
It is believed the animal was on its way to forage in the rubbish bins when it became distracted by the ball at around 8pm.
Mr Parimucha said the bear had been visiting the hospital grounds for some time to forage for food in bins located nearby.
It used the grounds as a shortcut, he added.
He said the hospital had installed a special steel cage around its own waste containers to keep bears out.
