Daily Patrols End For Some Shoalhaven Beaches

Shoalhaven beachgoers are being reminded that daily patrols at North Mollymook, Narrawallee, Crookhaven, and Tilbury ended on Thursday 30 January.

While daily professional patrols will continue at South Mollymook until Friday 28 February, from 1 February to 27 April, there will be weekend-only patrols operating at Cudmirrah, Warrain, and only Sundays at Shoalhaven Heads.

Mayor Patricia White encouraged locals and visitors to prioritise safety by always swimming at patrolled locations.

"With daily patrols continuing at South Mollymook until the end of February, and weekend patrols at Cudmirrah, Warrain, Shoalhaven Heads through to the end of April, we urge everyone to always swim between the red and yellow flags," Cr White said.

Rip currents remain a significant hazard on Australian beaches. Surf Life Saving NSW advises anyone caught in a rip to stay calm, raise an arm to signal for help, and conserve energy. Swimmers can also escape a rip by swimming parallel to the beach, towards the breaking waves.
