Community organizations are invited to submit applications for the Access to Services Funding Opportunity
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has released a Request for Proposals funding opportunity aimed at ensuring all residents, particularly those impacted by cancer and other chronic conditions, have access to coordinated and equitable health and support services.
"We are looking to address the root causes of cancer and other chronic conditions to achieve health equity," said Magnolia Contreras, Vice President of Community Health at Dana-Farber. "By partnering with local community organizations and working upstream together, we will increase access to services and create the conditions that promote health for everyone."
Dana-Farber received approval through the statewide Determination of Need (DoN) process for the construction of Dana-Farber's Chestnut Hill facility, which opened earlier this year. This new facility provides a comprehensive range of oncology services including exams, infusion, and imaging for diagnosis, care, and treatment of cancer.
Through this funding opportunity, up to $4 million will be awarded to community organizations in Greater Boston over the next four years to support initiatives that address root causes of health inequities. This Access to Services funding will be awarded in two tracks. One track will support initiatives that create and sustain long-lasting community health improvement; the other will fund efforts that improve linkages to health and support services, including prevention and chronic care services.
Preference for Access to Services grants will be given to organizations serving the neighborhoods of Roxbury, Dorchester, Mission Hill, Mattapan, and Jamaica Plain. Applications will also be accepted from surrounding Greater Boston communities, including the city of Newton.
Dana-Farber currently leads several community programs for medically underserved Boston residents focused on eliminating disparities in breast, prostate, skin, lung, and human papillomavirus (HPV) related cancers. This new funding opportunity builds on Dana-Farber's ongoing efforts to invest in the health and wellbeing of the communities it serves.
