Dangerous Operation Of Motor Vehicle At Kingaroy

Police have charged a 32-year-old man with multiple traffic offences after he allegedly drove the wrong way up a highway at speed and failed to stop for police between Elimbah and Yarraman on March 20.

At approximately 3pm police received multiple calls that a vehicle was allegedly driving north along the southbound traffic lanes on the Bruce Highway at Elimbah.

Police located the vehicle stopped on the Steve Irwin Way on ramp however it is alleged when they tried to intercept the vehicle the driver drove around police and back onto the highway.

Then at approximately 5.15pm it is alleged police received further calls that the same vehicle had been allegedly driving dangerously along the D'Aguilar Highway at Moore.

Shortly afterwards police sighted the vehicle on the D'Aguilar Highway at Yarraman where it is alleged the driver drove back onto the highway before stopping.

The driver returned a positive result for methamphetamine during a roadside drug test.

The Kallangur man has been charged with six offences including one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle while adversely affected, drive with relevant drug present in blood, evade police and two counts of driving while unlicensed.

He is due to appear in the Kingaroy Magistrates court on March 21.
