City of Darwin is seeking community input to inform the development of a Darwin Place and Liveability Plan.
The plan will build on the work City of Darwin has already undertaken towards creating a safe, liveable, healthy, cool and green, smart, vibrant and creative city.
The plan will:
- Capture the unique needs, values and charter of Darwin's people and communities
- Reflect Darwin's diversity
- Present a holistic picture of how Darwin can become more liveable into the future
- Include a toolkit that will ensure future projects and developments align with the needs and aspirations of Darwin residents.
Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said City of Darwin wanted to understand what makes Darwin liveable for our community and encourage everyone to have their say.
"This project provides an opportunity for community members to help shape the future of Darwin," Mr Vatskalis said.
"We want to know what you love about your neighbourhood, where the gaps are in services and facilities are, and how you move around Darwin.
"All this input will help us to focus on liveability as an integrated part of our day-to-day work and future planning," he said.
A series of engagement activities is planned throughout July and August to seek input from the Darwin community. This includes an online survey, which has gone live today.

Opportunities for you to provide your input include:
- Complete the online survey at engage.darwin.nt.gov.au
- A family pop up morning at Holzerland Park in Malak, this Sunday 7 July from 9am featuring facepainting and balloon art for the kids and free coffee for the first 40 people to attend. You can also go into the draw to win a $100 Yeti Pack by completing the survey at our event.
- Dropping in to the Casuarina Aquatic and Leisure Centre official opening on 13 July 2024.
- Visiting us at the Royal Darwin Show from 25-27 July in the City of Darwin tent.
- Drop-in sessions at Casuarina and Darwin City libraries on 23 July.
In addition to public events and the survey, City of Darwin is consulting key community interest groups throughout the engagement period, which closes 25 August 2024.
