The Territory's iconic Darwin Festival continues to punch above its weight, with the latest attendance figures showing strong support for the Top End event as it enters its final week for 2022.
Since this year's festival officially opened on 4 August, more than 62,000 attendances have been recorded across free and ticketed performances, as well as at Festival Park.
Event organisers have delivered another stellar program of events in 2022, with audiences lapping up everything from music, theatre, comedy and dance, to cabaret, visual arts and family entertainment. Incredibly, more than 62 per cent of past and upcoming performances on the 2022 program have sold out completely.
There have been many highlights on the 2022 program so far including the Tim Minchin Darwin debut at The Amphitheatre, Arlo Parks' national tour, comedian Dilruk Jayasinha on the Sunset Stage, and the ever-popular Teddy Bear's Picnic, to name a few.
Festival Park has also been a huge drawcard with locals and visitors enjoying the relaxed celebratory atmosphere with dinner and drinks in between shows.
Statistics also show Darwin Festival has helped place the Top End on the map, with close to a quarter of ticket buyers coming from outside the Territory or overseas.
Darwin Festival comes to a close on 21 August, with plenty of shows planned for the final week. There is something for everyone with epic performances still to come from singer, rapper and producer Elsy Wameyo, the Sunshine and Disco Faith Choir, cabaret show YUMMY ICONIC and dance/theatre performance Meremere and much more.
