The streets of Darwin will again come to life with the return of the popular Darwin Street Art Festival (DSAF) for the eighth year.
This year's program will see more than 20 new murals emerge across Darwin, as well as events, screenings, exhibitions, and workshops for the community to enjoy.
Highlights for the 2024 DSAF include:
Collaboration with four other NT community festivals across the duration of the program, resulting in mural activations for Nightcliff Seabreeze Festival, a pop-up painting at BASSINTHEGRASS, a new mural being painted during Garrmalang Festival, and a street party with Sugarbag FestivalA partnership with Don Whyte framing for his iconic Offcuts exhibition, inviting people back to the iconic Mayfair space, in its new form as QubitFree Graffiti lettering workshops with UP&UP for emerging graffiti artistsAn 'in conversation' with artists from the Tangi Street Art Festival in Bali, as part of a new cultural exchange programA collaboration with Darwin High School allowing students to paint a pop-up wall, and a new wall being painted at CDUA second mural being painted on the Argus Building by popular artist George Rose
Local Darwin artists make up over 60% of the line-up this year, including Gindy Legs (Cyan Sue-Lee and Mikaela Lee), SKHETCH (Hannah Illingworth), Kris Keogh, Piper Kidd (Katie Hagebols) and DSAF stalwarts Jesse Bell and Jason Lee.
They will join prolific Australian artists including George Rose, Fintan Magee, Heesco and Creature Creature for the festival, which runs from 18 May - 8 June.
The Darwin Street Art Festival is funded by the Northern Territory Government through Activate Darwin, and delivered by local business Proper Creative.
The festival has helped transform the streets of Darwin through vibrant and colourful street art building year upon year, and this year has been named as the most awarded street art festival in the country.
