NAIDOC Week celebrations will continue in September with A Day in the Dale taking place at the Aboriginal Culture Centre and Keeping Place.
A free barbecue, live music from Terra Firma, and cultural activities and events will take place from 11am to 2.30pm on Friday September 6.
NAIDOC Week events are held annually throughout Australia to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year's NAIDOC Week theme was 'Keep the fire burning! Blak, loud and proud'. The theme honours the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture – with fire a symbol of connection to Country, to each other, and to the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
"We're inviting everyone in the Aboriginal community, and we would really like members of the broader community to come along and help us celebrate NAIDOC Week and all that it represents," said Armidale Regional Council's Aboriginal Community Development Officer, Cyril Green.
"We will have some fabulous live music from Terra Firma to entertain the crowd, cultural events for people to participate in, and a free barbecue. So, make sure you come on down to the Keeping Place and join in the fun and celebrations!"
