Dead-end Street Brings Offenders To Stop

Police have arrested a man and woman in East Keilor this morning after they entered a dead-end street in a stolen vehicle.

Members on patrol in the Sunbury van first spotted the Landcruiser on the Calder Freeway about 2.30am.

Officers checked the vehicle which came up as an outstanding stolen serial, believed stolen from an airport carpark on 3 November.

The Air Wing was called into assist members on the ground as the vehicle travelled through Sunbury, Taylors Lakes and into Keilor Park.

Police successfully deployed stop sticks on Keilor Park Drive however the driver continued to drive and shredded several tyres.

The driver turned into Clarks Road in East Keilor which was a dead-end street so with no where to go, the pair surrendered to police.

A 28-year-old man from Bacchus Marsh and a 30-year-old woman from Sunbury were arrested and have been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possess drugs believed to be methamphetamine and ecstasy and going equipped to steal.

They have been bailed to appear before Broadmeadows Magistrates' Court on 30 April.
