Dean Winter Stuck On Fence

Tasmanian Government

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is standing up for Tasmania's key industries - mining, forestry, and aquaculture - against Federal Labor's Nature Positive plan, which threatens jobs across the State.

Minister for Business, Industry and Resources, Eric Abetz, said the silence from Dean Winter and Federal Minister Julie Collins was deafening.

"Federal Labor is pushing ahead with an EPA that would strangle investment and put regional jobs at risk - including Tasmania's key industries and the thousands of workers who depend on them," Minister Abetz said.

"Even WA's Labor Premier, Roger Cook, has taken a stand against these reckless reforms - but in Tasmania, Dean Winter and Julie Collins are nowhere to be found.

"Tasmanian Labor must decide if they back Federal Labor or WA State Labor.

"The Tasmanian Government backs in WA Labor on this one. Putting Tasmanians first, rather than the wishes of the ever increasingly desperate Federal Labor Government, would be welcomed by Tasmanians.

"The pressure is already mounting on salmon farming in Macquarie Harbour, and these policies would make it even harder for our industries to survive.

"Dean Winter and Julie Collins must choose - will they stand with Tasmanian jobs, or will they stay silent while Federal Labor sells out our regions? Their refusal to fight for Tasmania is a disgrace."
