Death In Police Operation At Rockhampton

The Ethical Standards Command is investigating the death of a man after sustaining serious injuries during an incident in Rockhampton overnight, November 30.

Initial investigations indicate that around 9pm, officers were called to an Alma Street residence following reports of an unknown person trespassing.

Upon arrival, officers located a 37-year-old man standing on a second-floor balcony railing and attempted to negotiate with the man.

Following these attempts, the man fell from the balcony and suffered serious injuries.

He was transported to Rockhampton Base Hospital for treatment, however died due to his injuries.

The State Coroner has been advised, and the Ethical Standards Command is investigating.

The investigation is subject to independent oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
