Defense Policy Board Meeting 28 June

The Defense Policy Board (DPB) gathered for two days of closed sessions at the Pentagon on June 26th and 27th to assess the Department of Defense's preparedness, posture, and ability to mobilize for future conflicts.

During these sessions, the DPB met with senior DoD leaders, including Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III; Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment Honorable William LaPlante; General Daniel Hokanson, Chief of the National Guard Bureau; Admiral Samuel Paparo, Commander, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command; Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Amanda Dory; and Performing the Duties of Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness Honorable Shawn Skelly.

The DPB is chartered to provide independent advice and recommendations on matters pertaining to (a) issues central to strategic DoD planning; (b) policy implications of U.S. force structure and modernization on DoD's ability to execute U.S. defense strategy; (c) U.S. regional defense policies; and (d) other defense policy and national security issues of special interest to the DoD, as determined by the Secretary of Defense, the Deputy Secretary of Defense, or the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy.
