The Medicare Mental Health Centre in Cessnock is providing a safe and welcoming place for locals to get mental health information, services and support.
The centre has been providing free mental health support and care without the need for a referral or appointment since opening in January 2023.
Medicare Mental Health Centres are a key part of the Albanese Labor Government's commitment to strengthening Medicare.
In June a new Medicare Mental Health Centre will open in Muswellbrook joining the existing service in Cessnock.
Medicare Mental Health Centres are building on the established Head to Health network which will have their capability upgraded to ensure every centre has access to a psychologist or psychiatrist on call.
The network of 61 Medicare Mental Health Centres will be opened by the middle of 2026 right across Australia.
The Medicare Mental Health Centre in Cessnock is located at Unit 4, 36 Vincent Street.
