The Tasmanian Government is employing record numbers of professional support staff in our schools.
As part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, we've committed $500,000 for 20 additional scholarships for speech pathologists and psychologists in schools.
Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said the scholarship placements for next year have now been offered to graduates from across the country.
"The new school psychologists and speech and language pathologists will play a vital role by helping students to learn and grow," Minister Palmer said.
"With a focus on regional areas in Tasmania, the scholarships offer permanent employment pathways for eligible university students in the early stages of their careers and will help bolster this vital workforce in Tasmanian Government schools.
"These scholarships show our Government's strong commitment to boosting speech and language pathology services in schools and Child and Family Learning Centres by offering incentives and capitalising on existing talent markets for graduates from Australian universities."
The successful applicants will receive $25,000 across their scholarship term to contribute towards university course costs and are required to complete a minimum of two years' employment.
Over the past decade, the number of school psychology, social work and speech and language pathology positions has increased by more than 60 per cent.
