U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell hosted a press briefing together with Japanese Ambassador to the United States, Shigeo Yamada, to highlight the USA Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka. The briefing included a preview of one of the USA Pavilion's exhibit spaces, the Innovation Realm, and revealed publicly for the first time the USA Pavilion mascot, Spark.
Spark, the USA Pavilion's official mascot, symbolizes the "spark of imagination and creativity." Spark's unique character design is inspired by American motifs combined with a playful sense of boundless possibility. The fully animated character will guide visitors through a series of "imagination realms" that showcase American culture, creativity and opportunity. A short video introducing Spark can be found at the World Expo USA Pavilion YouTube channel .
The United States is working with BRC Imagination Arts (BRC), an award-winning experiential storytelling, design, and production firm, to create immersive exhibit spaces, media production, and storytelling that invites visitors to imagine and engage through a dynamic adventure that highlights U.S. creativity, ingenuity, and opportunity in areas like exchanges, travel, innovation, and space exploration.
One of these exciting spaces is the Innovation Realm, where Spark and a USA Pavilion Youth Ambassador will lead visitors on a journey through groundbreaking ideas and advancements shaping our collective future. The experience will highlight cutting-edge innovations in fields such as agriculture technologies, nanotechnology, advanced materials science, and industrial design. Visitors will learn how the United States is developing transformative solutions that will help individuals, communities, and the world to address global challenges - like creating food technology systems that adapt and learn with nature, designing advanced products that empower lives, and pioneering medical breakthroughs that redefine how we care for families and communities.
Expo 2025 Osaka will open on April 13, 2025, and is expected to receive tens of millions of visitors over its six-month duration. World Expos, also known in the United States as World's Fairs, represent unparalleled opportunities to showcase American commerce, enterprise, culture, values, and global leadership and also provide opportunities to work with international partners to tackle shared global challenges.
